Monet: Youth Speaker, Persistent Connector, & Legacy Creator.
Currently living a mile from the ocean in sunny San Diego, I am passionate about working with youth. I love to connect people who could have a potentially mutually beneficial relationship. Inspiring teenagers and providing the tools that can help them improve their lives is what I live for. Topics I speak on include social media, creating your legacy, and remaining persistent through hard times - without exception.
You can read more about me and why I do what I do and what makes me tick on my blog. Aside from business and inspiring others, I love the beach and all of our gorgeous sunsets, playing tennis, hiking, acting like a kid, playing games, the outdoors, healthy food, and traveling. And Pinning. :) Thanks for visiting my page - please reach out to me and let me know how I can help you! And be sure to connect with me on Social Media!

Storytime: A Defining Moment, and How a Tree Changed My Life
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA and a "yinzer" born and bred, my heart had been set on moving to San Diego since I was 12 years old. After ten years of being in the Hospitality Industry and working my way up to a Director level by age 25, I was tired and disappointed in my own lifestyle. I wanted a career that involved helping people. I wanted to make a difference in a BIG way. Finally, I knew my sister and her husband were living in Arizona and had a desire to start a family, and I desperately wanted to be close to them when I one day became an Aunt.
On Wednesday, May 25, 2010, I went out on a limb and applied for a job in San Diego. I was typically off work every Thursday, but that particular week was my best friend's birthday, so I switched shifts with a coworker. And that Thursday evening, while I was at work, something happened that changed the course of the rest of my life.
A terrible storm was blowing through the greater Atlanta area. I checked my cell phone around 8 pm and had missed calls and texts from my landlord and roommate, and immediately knew something was wrong. Sneaking into the supply closet, I called my roommate and received the shocking news: "The tree in the yard fell on the house, we can't get in... we have to stay somewhere else tonight. I wish I could tell you more but this is all we know right now."
I drove past my house that night and couldn't even see past the tree, as it stretched past the house and driveway and covered half of the road. In the morning, what I saw blew my mind.
At that point I was simply so thankful. I never felt angry or sad. No one was injured and we were lucky. “Homeless” but with great friends who let me live on their couches for a few weeks, I sat at a coffee shop with my friend Meg on Saturday, browsing our Facebook timeline while the contractors used chain saws to chop the tree away from what was left of our house. I saw a post from my cousin that she needed a babysitter for her four kids in Newport Beach, CA and immediately called her... and told her I would be there in three weeks. The next two weeks were a whirlwind. I had zero money saved when I made this decision. I put my notice in at work that night, had a 'Moving Out of the Tree House Sale', donated everything that wouldn't fit in my Hyundai Elantra, and headed West on a dream, and a prayer.
There was nothing logical about this decision. I didn’t have a job lined up, and funds were tight. But sometimes, I go with my intuition and sometimes, it’s right.
Two weeks later, as I had a panic attack somewhere in New Mexico, terrified about what was about to happen in my life, my phone indicated a voicemail had come through. It was an offer for the job I had applied for on the 25th. That evening I got to my father's house in Phoenix, AZ, and as my family and I sat around the dinner table, I announced my job offer. Immediately thereafter, my sister announced that she was pregnant. And that's when I knew, that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. The rest is history.
